Getting Started
Use the following steps when running dunning letters for the first time.
1. Define a Dunning Class on Reference File category 351. In the record, specify a minimum period, a grace period, and a maximum dunning level.
2. Define a Dunning Level on Reference File category 352. In the record, specify a dunning fee, charge interest rate, and limit days. Limit days indicate the number of days that you give to the customer before he is requested to pay his overdue balance.
3. Define a Company/Location Options record on Reference File category 336 for all company locations which have customers who are dunning candidates. In the record, specify the extended dunning environment and the generate finance charge option. This option determines whether a finance charge open item will be generated during customer statements or the finance charge will only be reported on the dunning letter.
4. Decide which customers you wish to dun. For each, input the dunning class on the Customer Master file.
5. Enter Dunning Text for each dunning class/level. If the customer operates in a secondary language, enter the translated text with an optional language code.
6. Dunning is now ready to process.
7. Before processing a dunning run on 'production" customers, the users should set up test customers for each dunning class and language (with overdue open items), and print dunning letters for each test customer and each dunning level. This procedure ensures that the layout of the dunning letter is as desired and that the dunning text is correct.
