Dynamic Generation of Information to Drive Production
The Manufacturing Data Generator in BuyDesign Configurator uses the manufacturing rules contained in BuyDesign product models to dynamically create the information needed by manufacturing to drive production of customized products. Based on the way your manufacturing planning and control system works, BuyDesign can create any of the following:
- A Part Number Number (e.g. “smart part” #, configured part #, variant code, intelligent product identifier) for use in back-end systems that use a code to describe product configurations.
- A Bill of Material (BOM) listing all of the material required to produce the product:
- Single level for assemble-to-order products.
- Multi-level for make-to-order and engineer-to-order products.
- A Production Routing identifying all of the operations that must be performed, along with work center and manufacturing standards information.
- Other Manufacturing Information such as cut sheets or quality inspection instructions.
Note: You also have the option to use BuyDesign Flex2D or BuyDesign Flex3D to generate CAD models that can be then be used to create similar information and/or additional outputs such as CNC instructions.
Once generated, this information is easily passed to your manufacturing system using BuyDesign integration tools.
