Swiss manufacturer, UMV (Usines Métallurgiques de Vallorbe SA), has recently signed a MAC-PAC XE Maintenance Agreement with TDCI. 
A long-time MAC-PAC user, the company had been off maintenance since Andersen Consulting turned support over to TDCI in 1998.  UMV recently performed a structured evaluation of potential ERP strategies, including options to move to SAP or other packages, or to continue with MAC-PAC.  The evaluation compared the cost and benefits of each option and concluded that UMV’s best strategy is to continue using MAC-PAC for at least several years because of its proven functionality and low cost of operation. 
As a result of the decision to continue using MAC-PAC, UMV has initiated several activities:

• UMV joined the TDCI MAC-PAC XE Maintenance Program to receive past and future PTFs, enhancements, and product support. 
• UMV is now outlining a series of usage assessments and mini-projects to improve the way in which MAC-PAC is being used to support today’s business processes.  Consulting services for this effort as well as local support services will be provided by TDCI’s European partner, MPBA Ltd (www.mpba.co.uk).  
• UMV plans a review of TDCI’s Insights for MAC-PAC XE as their new reporting and analytics environment, as well as the Integrator for MAC-PAC XE as their enterprise application integration framework.
