TDCI Announces MAC-PAC XET version 12

At Perspectives 2005, TDCI announced immediate availability of MAC-PAC XE version 12 as well as upcoming plans for enhancements to support SOX compliance, enhanced shipping, and more.

MAC-PAC XE version 12

MAC-PAC XE version 12 provides a consolidated roll-up of all PTFs and enhancements to date. Furthermore, version 12 includes a new Installation and Maintenance Facility (IMF) that will always install a 'vanilla' version of MAC-PAC XE, automatically upgrading any environment since 10.1 to the then current version of MAC-PAC XE. In addition to automatically applying all PTFs and enhancements, the IMF also converts data, resulting in a new environment that is completely up-to-date with TDCI as of the date the install CD was created.

Using this approach, users can plan significant upgrades for exactly the best time for them - not just on a pre-determined vendor release schedule. Of course, using this approach, all customizations that a company needs to take forward to the new release must be re-applied (or dropped if no longer needed).

TDCI will continue to package individual enhancements like PTFs that can be applied on a case by case basis as needed, with minimal effort. This combination of capabilities gives MAC-PAC XE users tremendous flexibility in how they chose to maintain and move forward their information system.

Planned Enhancements

TDCI also outlined MAC-PAC XE core application enhancement plans for the coming year at Perspectives 2005. Those plans include:

  • Completion of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) related enhancements in the AR and IA modules.
  • Shipping enhancements, including:
    • New data fields and capabilities in core MAC-PAC XE.
    • A supported interface with the Varsity Logistics ShipSoft applications.
    • New FedEx and UPS utilities.
  • Other enhancements as prioritized by the enhancement survey and workshop process.

In addition, TDCI outlined the possibility of additional 'strategic initiative' projects when customers have enough interest to provide sponsorship of a project. TDCI will be pursuing ideas for such projects over the coming months.
