Systems Plus

Systems Plus is an IBM Business Partner and the provider of the APICS award-winning OTTO ('On Time Orders') manufacturing execution intelligence software that is at the heart of the MAX-PAC XE Priority Manager solution. Priority Manager integrates OTTO with core MAC-PAC XE manufacturing applications to clearly identify the near-term actions operations managers need to take in order to ship orders on time, reduce expediting activity, and minimize inventory levels.

At Perspectives 2005 Systems Plus introduced two new modules - Flow Manufacturing and Roll Product Manager as well as an extension to Priority Manager's Production module.

The new Flow Manufacturing module allows firms requiring work orders for accounting purposes to embrace the advantages of one of lean manufacturing's core principles - never produce more than you need before you need it. Priority Manager's Flow Manufacturing module is implemented without changing BOMs, routers or labor reporting procedures. Planners use it to set the final assembly schedule, from which Priority Manager creates the schedules for all feeder "cells". Priority Manager's Flow Manufacturing has been installed at the Ruskin Lau Division's Rochester , IN plant.

The Roll Product Manager is used by firms which convert master rolls of steel, tape, paper, plastic, etc. into small rolls for their customers. Priority Manager's Roll Product Manager "fits" the customer demands to master rolls based on characteristic (heat, thickness, temper, grade, etc.), providing the production planners with an optimal usage plan for each master roll. Planners can either accept the suggested configuration or modify it based on extenuating circumstances.

Priority Manager has also been enhanced to provide the ability to schedule and track production work orders that have multiple concurrent operations. This new Priority Manager function makes it possible to synchronize and track all the production 'threads' that make up the full production flow of an end product as a single work order - something previously unavailable to most MAC PAC XE installations. No modification to core MAC-PAC XE is required to implement the new scheduling capability. All Priority Manager needs to support this new scheduling process is a routing record field which will be used to identify the 'feeding' operation number.
