Moss Supply Company Goes Live with MAC-PAC XE™ and BuyDesign® Configurator at Ashland, VA Plant
(October 2008) Moss Supply Company (Moss), a leading manufacturer of vinyl windows and doors in the Southeastern United States and the newest company in the MAC-PAC XE user community, is now live with MAC-PAC XE and the embedded BuyDesign Configurator for MAC-PAC XE at the company’s Ashland, Virginia manufacturing plant. MAC-PAC XE financial management applications are already live at the corporate level. In the next six months, the implementation will be expanded to include the company’s manufacturing plants in Charlotte, North Carolina and Cartersville, Georgia.
At the Ashland plant, Moss has implemented MAC-PAC XE applications for materials, production, shipping, and cost management; manufacturing planning; and order entry. BuyDesign Configurator is used within order entry to guide the configuration of made-to-order (MTO) products. BuyDesign Configurator manufacturing rules generate BOMs and routings for manufacturing orders. Moss is using the embedded BuyDesign Configurator rather than Expert Configurator (EC) for all configuration functions.
In addition, MAC-PAC XE has been integrated with Moss’s existing glass manufacturing equipment on the shop floor.

Moss has licensed MAC-PAC XE™ along with BuyDesign® as their next generation company-wide business, operations, and sales management solution. They are now in the process of implementing the full range of MAC-PAC XE manufacturing, distribution, and finance applications on their existing IBM iSeries server. BuyDesign Channel Sales, Configurator, and Flex2D are being implemented on a Microsoft technology platform and integrated with MAC-PAC XE.
In the next phase of the project, Moss will expand MAC-PAC XE with the embedded BuyDesign Configurator order entry to all products and locations. Following that, they will implement MAC-PAC XE manufacturing at each remaining plant of Moss Supply Company. BuyDesign Channel Sales will then be deployed to provide web-based 24x7 self-service quoting, ordering, and status inquiry capabilities for Moss dealers and other select customers. MAC-PAC XE EDI capabilities will also be used to accept orders from large customers.
