TDCI Suggests… Move to User-based MAC-PAC XE Licensing When You Move to the iSeries i5
|
|
Many companies using MAC-PAC XE are moving to the IBM iSeries i5 server to take advantage of the much greater flexibility and price/performance offered by the i5. For companies that have continued to license MAC-PAC XE using the CPU-based license originally sold by Andersen Consulting, this transition is a great time to make the change to a more flexible and cost-effective user-based MAC-PAC XE license. With a CPU-based license, you must execute a MAC-PAC XE license change with appropriate fees each time you do a hardware upgrade, even when you have no real MAC-PAC XE ‘usage' change. With a user-based license, you are free to upgrade your hardware as often as you like without any change to your MAC-PAC XE license unless you increase the number of users actually using MAC-PAC XE. Typically, companies only increase the number of MAC-PAC XE users when they perform a significant business or operational change such as adding a new plant, adding a new modules, etc. TDCI is offering to convert your MAC -PAC XE CPU-based license to a user-based license the next time you do a hardware upgrade at no additional charge beyond what you would pay for the CPU-based license upgrade alone. By making both changes at once, you will make it much easier and less expensive to leverage future advances in the IBM iSeries platform and financing offerings. A number of MAC -PAC XE users have already taken advantage of this TDCI offer. One of those companies is Republic Conduit – a long time MAC -PAC user. Damon Martin, Republic Conduit IT Manager recently said: “We have already reaped the benefits multiple times since migrating our MAC -PAC XE license from CPU to concurrent users in 2006. We now have the flexibility to regularly monitor our hardware options, without having to worry about additional MAC -PAC XE licensing fees. We appreciated TDCI's proactive approach and their support in keeping MAC -PAC XE a cost-effective solution for us.” If you are planning a hardware upgrade, contact Shelley Horn at 614-781-2325 x119 or e-mail her at shorn@tdci.com to discuss your options. ### |
