Tip
of the Month Q: How significant is the Batch Quantity field on the part master for a part? A: The value of the Batch Quantity field has a very significant effect on planning, costing, backflushing, and other areas of the manufacturing functionality. The most significant element of the Batch Quantity is that the Qty Per value in the Product Structure record is how many of the component SKUs it takes to produce one BATCH of the parent part, not one SKU of the parent part. If the MAC-PAC user is making discrete products in units of measure like "EACH", the Batch Quantity should always be "1". The appropriate use of this field is often misunderstood and documentation is not always precise enough to define all the issues related to it. If there are any questions about the use of this field, or if it seems that a value other than "1" should be in this field, contact the MAC-PAC Help Desk, Manufacturing team for discussion. Search Helpful Hint # MROH-5EPRBH on the MAC-PAC Web Site for full text of this tip. |
