Webster Refining MAC-PAC Usage after Assessment & Return to Maintenance

December 2009 --Webster Industries Inc. is now preparing to implement a number of recommendations made as a result of a recent MAC-PAC XE Usage Assessment.  The assessment was performed by TDCI shortly after Webster returned to TDCI’s MAC-PAC XE Maintenance & Support Program after being off the program for five years.

“We are very happy with the results of the usage assessment led by TDCI,” said Andy Felter, Vice President of Manufacturing. “It gives us a number of practical steps we can take to enhance the way we use MAC-PAC XE, and to better align it with the way we run our business today.”

The assessment was performed in early November.  After on-site interviews with people from just about every area of the company, TDCI produced a summary of approximately 60 observations along with specific recommendations for addressing each point.  Most recommendations were for procedural changes, expanded use of standard MAC-PAC XE functionality, changes to Ref Cat settings, or application of available PTFs and Enhancements.  A few recommendations involved minor modifications TDCI has already helped other MAC-PAC XE users make.  Among other things, Webster is now considering the usage of the Business Process Manager (BPM) and Repetitive Supply (RS) modules to streamline a number of different processes.

Speaking about why Webster returned to the TDCI maintenance & support program, Wanda Heyman, IT Manager said: “MAC-PAC is critical to daily operations here at Webster.  After managing the system on our own for awhile, we recognized the value in having a partner like TDCI to work with us to support MAC-PAC, and also to continually improve the way we use it.  Since returning to the program, we’ve been pleased with the knowledge and helpful attitude of the TDCI people, as well as with the range of PTFs and Enhancements to which we now have access.”

Webster Industries engineers and manufactures power transmission products, including a wide range of steel chain, conveyor, and related products.  Webster offers its products on a stocked and make-to-order basis, and has facilities in Tiffin OH, Meridian MS, and Tualatin OR.
