o  Add new lines (up to 9 lines are allowed per part).

o  Change a line.

o  Delete a line.

o  Rearrange the lines.

o  Copy comments from another part.  The comments will be copied after the current comments for this part.

PLANT

Display only.  Used to identify the plant in which maintenance will be done.

PART NUMBER

Display only.  The parent part whose comments are displayed.  You cannot change this field.

COMPONENT PART NUMBER

Display only.  The component part whose comments are displayed.  You cannot change this field.

SEQUENCE NUMBER

Display only.  The sequence number of the component part within the product structure of the parent part.  You cannot change this field.

COPY: FROM PART NUMBER

Required when copying.  When copying BOM comments, a combination of Parent Part Number, Component Part Number and Sequence Number must be specified to indicate the comments you desire to copy.  This field contains the Parent Part Number.  The part must exist on the Part Master File.  The new comments will be copied behind the current comments.

COPY: COMPONENT NUMBER

Required when copying.  The component part whose comments you want to copy.  The part must exist on the Part Master File.

COPY: FROM PLANT

Required when copying.  The plant in which the parent part exists whose comments you want to copy.  The plant must exist on the Warehouse Description File.

COPY: SEQUENCE NUMBER

Required when copying.  The sequence number of the component part within the product structure of the parent part.

RENUMBER BY

Optional.  The increment to be used when new sequence numbers are assigned.  For example, if RENUMBER BY = 5, the new sequence numbers will be 5, 10, 15, ..., when F18 Renumber is pressed.  If this field is blank, lines are renumbered by 10.

TEXT

Optional.  The actual BOM comments.  Each text line can contain up to 55 characters.

COMMENT GROUP CODE

Optional.  This generic field allows you to establish groups of related comments.  Assign a one character code to each comment you want included in a group.  This code needs to be previously defined in category D31.  At this time there is no direct BOM comments inquiry.  When this inquiry is implemented, this field will be used to select comments to display.  Comments can be assigned to groups regardless of their sequence numbers.

REF1

Optional.  This field can contain any combination of characters--no validation is performed.  The field can be used to enter values relating to a comment.  It can also be sued as a sorting criteria for user defined reports.

REF2

Optional.  Serves same purpose as REF1.

SEQUENCE

Required.  Number indicating the order in which comment lines should be displayed and printed.  Initially, the system displays sequence numbers in intervals of 10.  To rearrange lines, type over the current numbers.

DELETE

Optional.  Enter a D in this field to delete the corresponding comment.
