This screen is used to document productivity related part information. This may be relevant in environments which apply just-in-time techniques to their manufacturing process.  For JIT parts, a part/production center record is maintained on the Part/Production Center File (JT160M).

PLANT

Display only.  The plant specified on the Function Select screen.  The information entered on this screen applies only to the part number in this plant.

PART NUMBER

Display only.  The part number entered on the Function Select screen.  The information entered on this screen applies to this item.

PART DESCRIPTION

Display only.  Text that helps identify the part.  It is maintained on the Description screen.

PRODUCTION CENTER

Optional.  The production center where the part is produced.  The production center must exist on the Production Center File.  If the part is an MRP part or a JIT part, the production center defaults to the plant-specific default production center (defined on Reference File category K03).  If you do not wish to assign a production center for an MRP part, you must type in 'NOPDCTR' in this field.  If the part has an issue code of 'T,' the production center cannot be 'NOPDCTR.'

CONBON CONTROL CODE

Required.  The value entered must be defined on Reference File category C03.  The following CONBON Control Codes are the standard codes used in the system:

0 - No Cards

1 - Single Card

2 - Dual Card

If CONBON is not installed, the CONBON Control Code defaults to '0'; if CONBON is installed, the CONBON Control Code defaults to '2'.  To obtain more detail information about this code and how it works in conjunction with the Relief Type field to determine where component inventory is issued from and parent inventory is received into in terms of locations, type an 'X' next to this paragraph and press F11.

RELIEF TYPE

Required.  Must be defined on the Reference File category C02.  The following Relief Types are the standard codes used in the system:

1 - Point of Use

2 - Point of Production

You must use relief type 2 if the part has an issue code of 'T'.

To obtain more detail information about the Relief Type and how it works in conjunction with the CONBON Control Code to determine where inventory is issued from and received into, type an 'X' next to this paragraph and press F11 .

AUTHORIZED QUANTITY

Optional.  The minimum quantity required to authorize production of a JIT production part.  The quantity cannot be zero.  This field is used in calculating the number of suggested CON cards to initiate and control production of the part on the shop floor, if the CON BON module is installed. To obtain a detailed explanation of how this field is used in CONBON calculations, type an 'X' to the left and press F11.

CONTAINER CODE

Optional.  Enter the code for the standard container used for the part.  Valid container codes are defined on the Container Master File (DE130M).  This field can be blanks only if the CONBON control code is 0.

If this field is left blank and the external container code is entered, the corresponding internal container code will be defaulted from the Container Master File.  To specify an external container code without the corresponding two-digit container code, the value in this field must be manually deleted.

CONTAINER QUANTITY

Optional.  Enter the number of parts that can be carried in the standard container.  A container may often be used to record inventory transactions in a just-in-time environment.

The container quantity should be less than the authorized quantity.  This avoids authorization of less than one container.  To obtain a detailed explanation of how the container quantity is used in CONBON calculations, type an "X" to the left and press F11.

EXTERNAL CONTAINER CODE

Optional.  Enter the external container code used to identify the standard container for the part.  Valid external container codes are defined on the Container Master file (DE130M).

If this field is left blank and the internal container code is entered, the corresponding external container code will be defaulted from the Container Master file.  To specify an internal container code without the corresponding external container code, the value in this field must be manually deleted.

PRODUCING LOCATION

Required if the part has an issue code of 'T.' Must be a location on the Location Validation File.

RELIEF LOCATION

Optional.  Must be a location on the Location Validation File.

STOCK QUEUE DAYS

Optional.  This entry determines the number of days stock in the outbound queue.  This entry must be numeric, right-justified and up to one decimal and two significant digits. To obtain a detailed explanation of how stock queue days are used in CONBON calculations, type an "X" to the left and press F11.

INVENTORY NETTING FLAG

Required.  Valid values are:  'Y', 'N', or 'I'.  Must be 'Y' or 'I' for MRP parts.  Must be 'Y' or 'I' for JIT purchased parts, JIT raw material parts, and JIT manufactured parts with a Make/Buy flag of Buy.  A value of 'I' indicates that negative inventory balances for the part should be ignored during a RP generation.  This value will be allowed for all part types that are planned by RP (i.e. demand codes = D, R., and S).  Standard master scheduled parts and job-controlled parts will not have the option to ignore negative inventory.  MRP parts are always planned by netting requirements against existing inventory and/or expected inventory, but JIT parts may be planned with gross or net requirements on a part-by-part basis.

GROUP TECHNOLOGY NUMBER

Optional.  Enter the group technology or cell identifier associated with this part.

FAMILY ID

Optional.  Enter the identifier for the family of which the part is a member.  Defined through Reference File category 423.

COMMAND KEYS

Enter - Update the Part Master file with all changes made throughout the screens in this conversation.  Processing remains on the current screen while updates are saved to the Part Master file.

F2    - Display a window where a fast path option or mnemonic can be entered.  Fast path allows the next menu selection to be made directly from this screen.  When the window is displayed, pressing F3 will remove it.

F3    - Exit program without update.

F4    - Display a list of values for the field where the cursor is positioned.  If you select one of the items from the list, it will be returned to the application screen.

F5   - Display the previous screen in the Part Master Maintenance conversation.  May be used in conjunction with the F6 function key to page back and forth through these screens when creating a new part or modifying an existing part.  This function key will not be displayed when the first available screen of this conversation is displayed.  If you do not have authority for the previous screen, that screen is skipped over and the previous screen in the conversation is displayed.

F6   - Display the next screen in the Part Master Maintenance conversation.  May be used in conjunction with the F5 function key to page back and forth through these screens when creating a new part or modifying an existing part.  This function key will not be displayed when the last available screen of this conversation is displayed.  If you do not have authority for the next screen, that screen is skipped over and the next screen in the conversation is displayed.
