Inventory Transactions

In both JIT and MRP environments, components must be issued from inventory to the manufacturing floor for use in producing parent parts.  Likewise, the finished items must be received into inventory.  Inventory must also be moved between different locations in the plant.  MRP and JIT environments use different methods to handle these inventory transactions.

·     Inventory control information for MRP parts is entered on the Control screen of the Part Master Maintenance conversation.

·     Inventory control information for JIT parts is entered on the Productivity screen in the Part Master Maintenance conversation.

You specify the recording of component issues and the material issue method through an issue code, which is defined on the Control screen in the Part Master File Maintenance conversation.  You may, however, change the issue code of the component requirements of manufacturing orders only in the Manufacturing Order Maintenance conversation (IC100E), but only if the orders are planned or firmed, not open.
