Reporting Hierarchy for Inventory and Manufacturing

You use Design Engineering to define the structure MAC-PAC will use to report information.  You can define several entities within the corporation, and several manufacturing plants for each entity.  Associated with each plant are one manufacturing warehouse and any number of distribution warehouses.  Finally, each plant and warehouse can contain numerous inventory locations.  This hierarchy is shown in the JIT Manufacturing Floor Figure.  Also shown is the file within the system where each level is defined.

You must define at least one item at each level in the hierarchy.  If your organization does not have several companies, simply use the same name for the company and corporation levels.

Inventory levels are maintained by stocking location and balance type.  They are rolled up, allowing you to see the total quantity for a part within a warehouse, plant, or company.  See the Inventory Control User Manual for more information.
