Information Stored at the Warehouse Level

Three kinds of information can be defined for each warehouse:

·      Distribution information.  This information is defined for all warehouses.  It includes information about the work day calendar, lead times, the printer location, and inventory reservation policies for the warehouse.  For distribution warehouses, you must specify whether standard or moving average costing is used (for manufacturing warehouses, standard costing is always used).  You can also specify a general ledger location and VAT or GST reference for calculating and recording financial transactions for the warehouse.  In addition, you must specify whether or not inventory at the distribution warehouse is available for planning.

·      Manufacturing information.  This information is defined only for manufacturing warehouses.  It includes information such as the workday starting time and number of shifts at the warehouse.  You also specify the relief code default and whether sales orders sourced from distribution inventory at the warehouse will be included in demand calculations within Master Scheduling and Requirements Planning.

·      Cycle Count information.  This information is defined only for warehouses that use cycle counting.  Cycle counting is implemented for individual parts using the Inventory Control module.  Inventory Control will use the cycle counting information defined for the plant within Design Engineering as a default for all parts within that warehouse.

Security is maintained by warehouse.  One record must be created for each company/warehouse a user is allowed to access.  These records are stored on Reference File category 409.  If no authorization records exist for a specific company/warehouse (that is, no users are specifically granted access to that company/warehouse), then all users have authority to the company/warehouse.

Parts, product structures, engineering change orders, and revision levels are defined by plant.  For example, the same part number can be used in two different plants to refer to two different parts.  If you are using the same part in different plants, it must be given the same part number in each plant.  However, you can use the Copy Part conversation to copy the information from one plant to another.  You can also copy product structures across plants.
