The Financial Statement Heading screen allows the entry of ten report heading lines which can be specified for each Financial Statement.  The heading line is used to sequence and position headings on the report.  If less than ten headings are entered, column and line descriptions are printed after the last heading.

Each report heading line has 132 or 198 available positions for report information depending on the values entered on Reference File category 025.  (For more information about the values, see the report description of the Financial Statement Title File Mass Maintenance Report (GL300) in the report section of this manual.) However, there are three lines where data that is left or right justified is overlaid by system information.  On line one, the first positions are reserved for the date and the last positions are reserved for the page number.  On line two, the first positions are reserved for the time.  On line three, the first positions are reserved for the report number.

REPORT GROUP

Optional.  This field is used to identify a group of locations for which a financial statement is being created.  One or more locations may be assigned to one group.  If entered, the group must exist on the Reference file.

COMPANY/LOCATION

Optional.  The company/location field identifies the reporting entity for which a financial statement is being created.  If entered, the entity must exist on the Reference file.

CENTER

Optional.  Financial Statements may be prepared only for a given center.  The center level in the organizational structure may be used for sales locations, operational departments, or other areas for which an Income Statement is desired.  A center can have both Balance Sheet and Income Statement accounts assigned to it.  However, only Income Statement reports can be prepared for centers.  The center must exist on the Account/Center Master File if entered.

REPORT TYPE

Required.  The report type field defines the type of report being created.  Valid values are:

B - Balance Sheet

I - Income Statement

LINE NUMBER

Required.  The heading line is used to sequence and position headings on the report.  Each report may have up to ten lines.  Note that the standard date, time, and page fields are printed on the first three lines of every report.  If you define a heading line that uses the full 132 or 198 characters available on the report, the characters might be printed on top of these standard fields.  To ensure that all characters in the report heading are legible, print these headings on lines 4-10.

REPORTING CLASS

Required if management accounts are used.  Enter the reporting class to be associated with this financial statement heading.  The line will be printed on all financial statements with the same reporting class.  Valid values are:

C - Common

F - Fiscal

M - Management If you choose the common (C) reporting class, the line will be printed on all financial statements.  This field is only displayed if the Use Management Accounts flag is set to yes (Y) on Reference File category 133.

HEADING DESCRIPTION

Optional.  Each heading description allows up to either 132 or 198 characters.  Each heading description that is entered will be printed on the report in the columns specified on the screen.  If blank heading lines are desired, a heading record does not need to be entered.  When a break in line numbers is detected, blank lines are printed to space the heading records.  For example, lines 3, 4, and 5 will be blank if only lines 2 and 6 are defined.
