Serial Controlled Parts

Serial numbers are only valid for parts that have their serial-control flag set to (Y) Yes on the Part Master file (DE100M).  This flag is on the Part Master Maintenance Distribution screen (DE100S03).  Any part type may be serial-controlled, however serial numbers are only useful on parts that can be shipped.  All part types may be shipped except Reference (5), Non-Standard (7), and Non-Stock (C).  Lot controlled parts can be serial controlled as well.  There is no conflict between lot control and serial control.
