RMA Maintenance/RMA Receipt Code Example

Your customer, Watch Makers Inc. (WMINC), phones you explaining they have received a partially damaged shipment. The shipment contained ten wrist watches, and three were damaged. They also received five extra watch faces in the shipment. They are returning the following items:

You will need to find out when they are shipping the merchandise as well as why they are returning it. Enter the RMA Maintenance program and create the following RMA:

Notice above that each line contains one part number. This allows you to enter an RMA reason code for each line if desired.

On the phone you can give them the RMA Number (00000036) for their records.

Used to verify correct customer and return to address information.

Notice the RMA Print Release code. This code dictates how the RMA Acknowledgment is printed. Valid Values for this field are:

· I - Immediate

· N - Normal End-of-Day

· H - Hold Indefinitely

If you wish to print the acknowledgment immediately, the Immediate RMA Acknowledgment Print Monitor (MPRMAPRT) must be active. If you wish to print the acknowledgment at the end of the day, the released batch job OPRMAACKN from the Release Submitted Jobs option on the application menu.

Also notice the printer field in the illustration above. This is where your acknowledgment is printed. It must be a valid printer from Reference File category C07.
