Picker Generation

Picker documents can be generated using the Picker Document Release Select and Detail screens.  The Select screen enables you to select order shipments to be printed on the pickers or to enter selection criteria to display a list of shipments that can be consolidated on a single picker or pickers.  Selection criteria used to display and print order shipments include:

·     Company/warehouse

·     Order shipment range

·     Ship-to customer

·     Bill-to customer

·     Load number range

·     Carrier

·     Shipment route

·     Picker batch number

To display a list of shipments for the selection criteria, press F5-Picker Defaults and enter Y in the Batch Release Grouping flag.  If you only want to enter a request without selecting from a list of shipments, set the Batch Release flag to N.  If the Batch Release Grouping flag on the Picker Defaults window is Y, a list of order shipments are then displayed on the Detail screen.  You can create one picker for each shipment or group shipments on a single picker.

To group shipments, on the Detail screen, you enter any specific character (except D, P, or S) in the Select field for each shipment that you want to include on a picker.  The screen below illustrates this procedure:

Picker Document Release Detail screen (OP310S12)

The order shipments on the screen are being grouped onto three different picker batches using the characters A, B, and C.

Each picker generated can be formatted for picking by order shipment or by warehouse zone.  The Sales Order Picker by Order Shipment report lists all items by order shipment.  The Sales Order Picker by Zone report lists items by warehouse zone.  To specify which format you want to print, set the Pick by Zone Flag on the Picker Default window.  If you are picking by zone, you can also specify how the items on the picker are sorted within each zone:

·     Part number

·     Sequence

·     Customer

To facilitate picking, stocking locations can be assigned to a warehouse zone.  For each location, a picking sequence within the zone can also be defined.  You can then select to print your picker by warehouse zone in sequence order.

You can also use the Picker Document Release Select and Detail screens to reprint pickers.  When a picker is generated, its batch job number is printed on the copy.  Enter this picker batch job number on the Select screen and press Enter.  If the Batch Release Grouping flag is set to Y, on the Detail screen, the order shipments included on that picker will be displayed.  To reprint the entire picker, enter a P on any shipment line and press F22-End Transaction.  To reprint the picker for just one or several order shipments, enter an S on the requested shipment line(s) and press F22-End Transaction.

Considerations

The Picker Default window allows you to change default settings that are originally defined on Reference File category I70.  You can access the Picker Default window  and override the default values when you generate pickers using the Picker Document Release Select and Detail screens or when you are assigning order shipments to loads using the Load Consolidation Detail screen.

Pickers that are generated immediately will also use the picker defaults from Reference File category I70 to determine if it should be printed by order shipment or by warehouse zone.

Pickers that are requested in the Shipping Workbench or the Load Consolidation conversation will be submitted to the batch request file and must be released using the Order Processing Submit Pending Jobs menu.

Exception Pickers will be automatically generated if information such as order quantity, unit of measure, or reserved quantity is changed.
